Art teacher Brett Stump expressed excitement about the progress the students and the show have made, saying, “I’m really proud and excited to be able to share this area where our students excel with the community. We do have a lot of very talented visual artists.” Stump praised the administration and art club for their investment in the program, which included the purchase of display boards that enhanced the presentation of the artwork.

The art show, coordinated to overlap with the Buffalo Art Walk & Craft Fair, aims to highlight the immense talent of BHS students. Stump shared that each piece on display represents 10 to 30 hours of work from the students, making the collective effort all the more impressive. Students worked with Stump to make decisions about which pieces to display, a difficult task when so many great pieces are available.

For parents looking to support their children’s artistic journey before they reach high school, Stump advises, “Keep them drawing. Keep their passion alive.” “Encourage them to do it in their free time.” He emphasizes the importance of nurturing passion early on so that teachers can guide students more effectively later in their artistic development.

Community members who want to support the BHS arts program are encouraged to contact Stump and the high school to explore partnerships and opportunities for collaboration. Involvement with the art club, which supports students outside of class, is just one of the many ways the community can help foster young artistic talent.

With plans to continue developing the annual art show, Stump and BHS are excited to showcase the achievements of their students and inspire a love for the arts in the local community.
